                                 Drink and Drive sometimes !
Sep 2003
A married couple (Chris and sue) were regular customers. So was Sue's younger brother john. They all lived in the apartment building down the street.
Two hours to close, I am at the back desk reading the hustler comics; got interrupted by sue looking for something to drink, or as she put it “something that would make me pass the fuck out”. I suggested colonial club Iced tea and we talked.
Me: rough night
Sue: you don’t wana know.
(Am thinking your rite).
Sue: Chris left me.
Me: what you mean he left you?
Sue: He’s been cheating on me for three month Sam.
Me: sorry, so sorry sweetheart. (She wasn’t a bad looking girl)
Sue: I truly love him. (She started crying).
I came around the counter and gave her a hug. (She smell so good)
Me: Its his lose your a beautiful women and a lot of men would be lucky to have you. . (Including me!)
Sue: never got that close to anyone in my life.
Me: do you know her? The girl he left you for.
She answered with some kind of smile on her face: Chris left with John.
Me: come again!
Sue: They both packed and left to Columbus this morning.
Me: Don’t get it.
Sue: Chris and my brother are in love. GET IT.
(I got it, but not completely).
Me: oh, Chris and john. ?
Sue: yes.
(I didn’t know what to say so I walked back round the counter and rang her up).
Me: If you need someone to talk to?
Sue: Thank you.
(She asked for rolling papers and as I was reaching for them she wrote her number down).
Sue: You're a very nice man Sam. Call me?
(Not as nice as you think)
Me: yes. It’s on me this time. (Did not charge her for drink and rolling papers feeling guilty for some reason).
I didn’t call her she left the store for the last time that night. I lost three regular customers. It turns out heartache is bad business.
Went home; drank a fifth of colonial club and passed the fuck out.           click and jump.
